Susan Li O’Connor was born in Taipei, Taiwan. Her family moved to the east cost whenshe was five. She grew up in Maplewood, NJ and when she was seventeen her family moved to Columbus, OH. After graduating high school, she studied illustration and fineart at the Columbus College of Art and Design. Susan has exhibited her work in Sacramento, CA, and in Columbus.
Susan’s work deals with how humans interact and connect, both individually and aslarge populations. She uses her observations from the airport, doctor’s office, and coffee shops and most significantly from her job as a fashion retailer. Her work encourages theviewer to consider the nature of their own encounters and relationships. As a result of working in the fashion industry she has also begun to deal with consumerism and identityas important facets of human interaction.
